Jimmy Ball, loving husband, brother and friend, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024. Jimmy was born August 29, 1960, in Athens, Georgia to the late Nathaniel “Jaybird” Ball and Emma Lou Terrell Ball.
Jimmy was a quiet man—until you got to know him. He was actually quite funny and loved to see people react to his sometimes-dry wit. He was a kind and patient person who had a special place in his heart for the very young and the very old. He felt there was always something he could teach the young ones and learn from the elderly. He enjoyed many sports but basketball was his favorite and he excelled in it as a youth.
He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on February 14, 1987, and was a faithful servant until his death. He enjoyed sharing with others the Kingdom hope of a world with no more sickness and death.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Lou Ella Hubbard, and a brother, Nathaniel “Butch” Ball, Jr.
Jimmy leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 36 years, Mary Polite Ball; step-mother Barbara Ball; three sisters Corine “Muffin” (Michael) Jewel, Linda “Punkin” Ball and Anna “Candy” Dunn; four brothers, Joseph (Tasha) Ball, Stoney (Roberta) Ball, Terry “Bay Bay” Ball, and Bernard Pattman; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Roger Johnson, Caroline Ford, Shirley Penland, Dave and Sally Polite, Patricia James, Annette Gabriel, Kenneth Polite, Alvin and Helen Polite, Joseph and Martha Hillsman, Larry and Cynthia Gooden, Victor and Ellen Polite; uncle Robert Lee Terrell; aunt, Helen Terrell and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Jimmy will be greatly missed but his wish would be for everyone to know our loving God and Father, Jehovah, so that they can see themselves, and him again in God’s new world that is just around the corner.
